Neverwinter Nights 2 is the sequel to the acclaimed and highly popular game from BioWare: Neverwinter Nights. However, this game was developed by Obsidian Entertainment. The game is based on the original, but many elements have been changed. Also, there is no story continuity from the first one.
The game is based on paper and pencil role-playing games, adapting the Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 rules. The game is set in the Forgotten Universe campaign. You are an orphaned adventurer in a quest to investigate some mysterious artifacts called Silver Shards, and their connection to an evil spirit called the King of Shadows. The game has many similarities with the original series, but also the party management system changed, making it more flexible. If the long single-player wasn't enough, the multi-player is excellent, you can join a group of other adventurers to complete the game's quests. There are some technical problems, mostly annoying in the inventory system. The game graphics is not a big jump from the previous version, but it can have very beautiful visuals sometimes. Fans of previous D&D games and newbies alike will find the new conversation system, and controls very easy to use and balanced. The best thing about the game is that you can play it over and over again without getting bored. A must-have for RPG fans. |
